LONDON , December 20, 2013 () – News: US-based chocolate maker Mars has opted for reformulation of its Mars and Snickers bars in the UK, in a bid to meet calorie reduction norms set by the UK government, reports the Grocer. The company plans to cut portion sizes of a Mars bar from 58gm to 51gm and of a Snickers bar from 58gm to 48gm, while keeping the prices constant at GBP0.51 (US$0.83) a bar. The company initiated the move in order to meet the 250-calories a portion standards set as part of the UK government's Responsibility deal.
