December 17, 2013
– Gold Eagle Co., an industry pioneer of aftermarket fluids and additives and manufacturer of best-selling brands including STA-BIL® and 303® Products, joined Illinois Governor Pat Quinn, UI Labs and University of Illinois representatives to announce the launch of the Illinois Manufacturing Lab (IML) at Gold Eagle's headquarters today. Aiming to increase the competitiveness, productivity, profitability and revenue of Illinois manufacturers, the IML is launching its initial efforts with pilot projects at ten Illinois manufacturing companies to help identify, address and solve broad-based manufacturing challenges in Illinois.
"We are truly honored to help launch and support this exciting pilot project, announced today at Gold Eagle's headquarters," said Marc Blackman, President and CEO, Gold Eagle Co. "Innovation is at the core of our manufacturing philosophies and approach, and we look forward to collaborating with the IML team to discover and implement new, leading-edge technologies to further enhance our process and products."
As one of the companies selected to participate in the IML pilot project initiative, Gold Eagle Co. will participate in the IML pilot focusing on its innovative bottle drop testing FEA modeling and simulation process. Gold Eagle Co. fills approximately one million bottles for its products every week at its manufacturing facility in Chicago, and each bottle contains 25 percent post-consumer recycled content to help reduce waste. The pilot program aims to learn from and further enhance the productivity of Gold Eagle's bottle manufacturing, utilizing advanced manufacturing technologies.
Announced today by Governor Pat Quinn, the IML program is supported by matching contributions from the State of Illinois and the University of Illinois. Leveraging the UI LABS platform, the IML aims to deploy cutting-edge technologies and accelerate their use and adoption by small and mid-sized manufacturers through training and other services. IML will work closely with a statewide network of partners, including the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO), the Illinois Science and Technology Coalition (ISTC) and National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of Illinois. The IML pilot program will begin at Gold Eagle Co. immediately and be completed within the next six months.
