At a time when musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are the leading and constantly increasing cause of occupational diseases in France, Smurfit Kappa has developed an innovative, cost-effective, and highly effective solution to create an ergonomically and ecologically sound work environment.
MSDs represent 85% of the overall cases of occupational diseases and are responsible for 9.7 million lost workdays and 930 million euros in costs *.
Smurfit Kappa's Easy Co-Packing System would prevent MSDs in workers who repeatedly bend to fill boxes, therefore reducing back problems in factory workers.
The solution is comprised of a simple mechanized system, and of a 100% paper-based pallet-box with a corrugated pallet, available in all standard dimensions.
Ergonomic
The Easy Co-Packing system is intended for the ergonomic automation of corrugated pallet box filling.
The solution functions in a similar fashion to a jack and is easily integrated into production line picking.
As each layer of goods is loaded, a pedal controls the raising and lowering of a plate inside the container.
The system thus ensures:
Economic
With a set-up time shorter than conventional co-packing systems, the Smurfit Kappa solution provides increased productivity: pallets are automatically locked onto the box when filling is terminated, thus eliminating the assembly stage of conventional solutions.
Ecologic
The Easy Co-packing solution is a 100% cardboard solution. The pallet box can thus be recycled in its entirety without the need to separate materials.
