United States Patent no. 8,584,884, issued on Nov. 19, was assigned to Pactiv Packaging Inc. (Lake Forest, Ill.).
"Container having a foldable support and lid" was invented by Angela E. Learn (Gilbertsville, Pa.) and Kyle Karvola (Glendale Heights, Ill.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Food container is provided having a first body portion and a second body portion. The first body portion and the second body portion are joined together to define an interior of the container and a mouth to the interior. The first body portion has a first flap moveable between an open position and a closed position, and the first flap includes a foldable support formed therein to hold a receptacle when in the open position. The second body portion has a second flap moveable between an open position and a closed position, and the second flap includes a tab to engage the first flap in the closed position to form a lid across the mouth of the interior. A blank for forming the food container from a sheet of blank material is also provided."
The patent was filed on Sept. 22, 2011, under Application No. 13/240,537.
