BEIJING , November 13, 2013 () – China is to battle the overcapacity of the titanium pigment industry as well as pollution from titanium dioxide, China Securities Journal reported on Wednesday.

The report said that the country would raise the access threshold of titanium pigment industry by lifting up production capacity standards, release guidelines for clean production and measures for preventing and controlling pollutants of the industry in the next year.

Industry insiders said that after the expected measures took effect, titanium dioxide enterprises across China would have their environmental protection costs sharply increased and have to accelerate their technical transformation and upgrading. (Edited by Gaoyuan, gaoyuan@xinhua.org)
