Pioneer Hi Bred International issued US patent for 'maize variety hybrid X00B152'

– United States Patent no. 8,575,458, issued on Nov. 5, was assigned to Pioneer Hi Bred International Inc (Johnston, Iowa).
"Maize variety hybrid X00B152" was invented by Mario Rosario Carlone Jr. (Princeton, Ill.), Todd Elliott Piper (Mankato, Minn.), Jay Robert Hotchkiss (Brookings, S.D.), Travis J. Lee (Hanston, Kan.) and Michael Joseph O'Leary (Eau Claire, Wis.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A novel maize variety designated X00B152 and seed, plants and plant parts thereof, produced by crossing Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc. proprietary inbred maize varieties. Methods for producing a maize plant that comprises crossing hybrid maize variety X00B152 with another maize plant. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into X00B152 through backcross conversion and/or transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby. This invention relates to the maize variety X00B152, the seed, the plant produced from the seed, and variants, mutants, and minor modifications of maize variety X00B152. This invention further relates to methods for producing maize varieties derived from maize variety X00B152."
The patent was filed on March 22, 2011, under Application No. 13/053,301.
