October 28, 2013 () – As at October 28, agricultural enterprises sowed 8.299 million hectares of winter crops, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food Supplies has said.

Winter crops for grain were sowed on the area of 7.417 million hectares, which is 91% of the plan, including 6.094 million hectares of wheat (91%), 245,000 hectares of rye (82%), 1.077 million hectares of barley (91%).

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, agricultural enterprises completed the sowing of winter rapeseed on the area of 882,000 hectares (97%).

Agricultural enterprises completed the harvest of early grain and grain legumes having collected 32.5 million tons.

Agrarian Policy and Food Supplies Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk considers that possible insufficient sowing of 400,000-500,000 hectares of winter crops would not affect gross harvest of crops in 2014.

Earlier, it was planned to sow 8.01 million hectares with crops.
