MWV receives Pro Carton award for use of its Crescendo C2S paperboard for packaging of luxury spirit bottle; paperboard's two-sided coating allows for copy to be printed on inside of paper package and read through glass bottle

RICHMOND, Virginia , October 23, 2013 (press release) – MWV’s Crescendo® Paperboard Helps Brands Stand out on Shelf

MWV has been recognized as a winner in the 2013 Pro Carton-ECMA Carton Awards. The recognition is for the use of MWV’s Crescendo C2S (330 gsm) paperboard in a uniquely stunning package for a luxury spirits producer.

Crescendo was chosen for this project for many different reasons. The unique black and white design needed a board that featured a clean-white styling combined with a smooth two-sided coated surface that allowed for high-end graphics and finishes like those used on this package. The two-sided coating was vital to allow copy printed on the inside of the package to be read clearly “through” the bottle – a feature used to stand out to consumers on shelf. Crescendo also provided a luxurious feel and allowed for clean crisp die-cutting, another feature used unique to this package design.

“We are extremely excited to have won this award,” said Regina Knoll, marketing manager EMEA. “Crescendo was the perfect solution to this challenge. It met every criteria set for this project including helping the bottle stay within the package because of the two-sided coating that allowed for the application of an anti-slip varnish.”
