CARY, North Carolina , October 3, 2013 () – More than 500 workers at a Xerox call center in North Carolina are being told they could lose their jobs.

Xerox spokesman Bill McKee said Thursday the company expects that more than half of those given layoff notices last month will be shifted to similar positions working for other clients. Their jobs for Xerox Commercial Services LLC in Cary are due to end in November.

Of the 508 positions being eliminated, 450 are customer care assistants. McKee said the lost jobs are tied to one client which he wouldn't identify.

The company also laid off 67 people at a call center in Raleigh in August.

Xerox has about 4,000 employees in North Carolina, about 3,000 of them in Raleigh or suburban Cary.
