Pioneer Hi Bred International issued US patent for 'maize variety hybrid X95B333'

ALEXANDRIA, Virginia , October 2, 2013 () – United States Patent no. 8,546,668, issued on Oct. 1, was assigned to Pioneer Hi Bred International Inc (Johnston, Iowa).

"Maize variety hybrid X95B333" was invented by Lori Lisa Carrigan (Spicer, Minn.), Gustavo Marcelo Garcia (Stratford, Canada), Julie Ho (Madison, Wis.) and Thomas Craig Kevern (Milton, Wis.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A novel maize variety designated X95B333 and seed, plants and plant parts thereof, produced by crossing Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc. proprietary inbred maize varieties. Methods for producing a maize plant that comprises crossing hybrid maize variety X95B333 with another maize plant. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into X95B333 through backcross conversion and/or transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby. This invention relates to the maize variety X95B333, the seed, the plant produced from the seed, and variants, mutants, and minor modifications of maize variety X95B333. This invention further relates to methods for producing maize varieties derived from maize variety X95B333."
