Cargill agrees to settle federal lawsuit that alleged two consumers deceived by labeling of its Truvia sweetener products

LOS ANGELES , September 25, 2013 () – Cargill Inc. has agreed to settle a federal lawsuit that alleged two consumers were deceived by the labeling of its Truvia sweetener products, Food Product Design reported Sept. 25.

At the center of the lawsuit was whether Truvia ingredients stevia leaf extract and erythritol were "natural."

Cargill has agreed to put US$5 million into a settlement fund and make some changes to its website and labels, according to the settlement agreement.

Cargill has denied any wrongdoing.
