ALISO VIEJO, California , September 24, 2013 (press release) – After creating a global sensation on Kickstarter, KOR announced today that the Nava – its groundbreaking filtering water bottle – will start shipping on October 21. For consumers seeking an alternative to the waste and expense of bottled water, Nava delivers the ultimate in style, health and convenience. Nava contains its own replaceable coconut carbon filter that lasts three months under normal use, replacing 300 disposable bottles and saving up to $400 in bottled water purchases. Nava is also the only bottle that comes with its own filter subscription service, enabling consumers to set reminders and receive new filters direct to their doors.

Ultimately, KOR hopes that Nava will accelerate the trend away from bottled water to more sustainable solutions. “Although our products have inspired many people to ‘embrace the tap,’ far too many continue to rely on bottled water. Our goal was to create a filtering bottle so insanely great that people would take it everywhere, leaving their bottled water at home. With Nava, we think we achieved our goal, and are thrilled that consumers everywhere will now be able to own one,” said KOR Co-Founder and CEO Eric Barnes.

After almost two years of R&D, the public received its first glimpse of Nava in April, when KOR launched the Nava Kickstarter campaign. The innovative and visually stunning water bottle created a visceral reaction. Within 72 hours Nava reached its funding goal, and by the end of the campaign, over 4,000 Kickstarters had pledged a total of $261,000. Nava also captured substantial international interest. Media coverage extended across six countries, with international backers contributing 28% of total pledges.

According to KOR co-founder and president, Paul Shustak, “The response to our Kickstarter campaign was overwhelming and incredibly gratifying. We obsessed over every detail to create a great product, but we had no idea that Nava would touch such a nerve with the public.”

KOR has always been at the center of water, pushing the boundaries of personal hydration since launching the KOR ONE, its first product, back in 2008. But Nava proved KOR’s biggest challenge yet. The KOR team closely studied existing solutions and solicited input from users throughout the development process, resulting in a water bottle unlike any that has come before:

Sustainable, Healthy Filtration — Nava’s filter is made from coconut shells, widely recognized as the most effective material for carbon filtration. After harvesting, the shells are processed using a proprietary method that minimizes greenhouse gas emissions. Unlike coal, which takes millions of years to form and may contain heavy metals, coconut is a renewable and health-safe resource.

The Ultimate in Drinking Comfort — Nava’s ergonomic mouthpiece resulted from over a dozen prototypes. It feels great on the lips and makes using Nava a joy.

Optimized Water Flow — Nava's filter and filter housing were carefully designed to make drinking feel natural. Unlike other bottles, drinking from Nava doesn't require squeezing, sucking or biting. Users sip naturally as they would from a straw.

Hands-Free and Splash Proof — Nava features a flip top, push-button cap that opens with a click. Perfect for driving, working out, or other situations where the user’s hands are tied up and desire quick, splash-free hydration.

Protection from Germs and Dirt — Unlike most bottles, which force users to put their lips on an exposed surface, Nava's cap completely protects the mouthpiece when not in use.

KOR is making it as convenient as possible for consumers to purchase Nava. In the U.S., Nava is available immediately for pre-order via the website. Upon release, Nava will also be available through KOR’s retailer network. Internationally, Nava will be available in over 40 countries through KOR’s distribution partners.

Adds Shustak, "30 years ago, the bottled water industry barely existed. Today, it's a 10 billion dollar moral hazard. By providing a stylish, convenient alternative, we think Nava can turn back the clock on bottled water.”

KOR’s mission is to celebrate and protect water, and like all KOR Water products, Nava is part of KOR’s highly praised Thirst for Giving Program, which donates 1% of sales to water-related charities and raise awareness for ocean protection, container recycling, watershed protection, and the global water crisis.
