Mercer International Inc. plans to raise its Oct. 1 list price of northern bleached softwood kraft (NBSK) in North America by US$20/tonne, to $970/tonne.
Earlier today it was reported that Canfor Pulp LP had announced a global $20/tonne NBSK increase for Oct. 1, which would bring its price in North America to $970/tonne.
Mercer on Sept. 16 announced a $20/tonne Oct. 1 NBSK price hike for China, to $720/tonne. Some other major bleached softwood kraft pulp (BSKP) producers besides Canfor Pulp also said they are raising their China prices on Oct. 1.
The Vancouver, British Columbia-based Mercer produces NBSK exclusively and has a total capacity of approximately 1.5 million tonnes/year at mills located near Castlegar, British Columbia (the Celgar mill), near Stendal, Germany, and near Blankenstein, Germany.
