DANDENONG, Australia , September 17, 2013 (press release) – Environmental Packaging International ( EPI ), a global environmental packaging and product sustainability consultancy, and the Sustainable Packaging Alliance (SPA), a leading international consultancy in packaging sustainability, announced today that they have entered into a Channel Partnership in the North American market. Under the terms of their agreement, EPI will now sell licenses to Packaging Impact Quick Evaluation Tool (PIQET), a streamlined Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and eco-design tool used for packaging design. EPI will also provide account management services for PIQET clients, including training and technical support.

PIQET was launched in 2006 to allow packaging designers to benchmark the current sustainability performance of their packaging to optimize new designs. Through a web-based interface, the software provides users information on a series of environmental life cycle indicators and packaging attributes, all consistent with the Global Protocol for Packaging Sustainability (GPPS). Users can select from these metrics to tailor reports that align with their corporate goals.

“We launched our Channel Partnership program to support our rapid expansion of PIQET, and EPI is integral in supporting that continued growth throughout North America” said Leanne Fitzpatrick, CEO of SPA. “With EPI’s reach and expertise, our Channel Partner agreement presents a great opportunity for SPA and PIQET, as well as our clients.”

“As the leading streamlined LCA software tool used by the a growing list of consumer goods companies globally, we are pleased to offer access to this valuable technology to help clients continue to measure and improve their sustainability performance of their packaging designs,” said Victor Bell, president of EPI. “We are honoured to be selected by SPA as a partner and look forward to enhancing SPA’s commitment and service to users in North America.”
