US patent issued to Yahoo for 'Method and apparatus for administering a bidding language for online advertising'

ALEXANDRIA, Virginia , September 4, 2013 (U.S. Fed News) – US Patent Issued to Yahoo! on Sept. 3 for "Method and apparatus for administering a bidding language for online advertising" (New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 3 -- United States Patent no. 8,527,353, issued on Sept. 3, was assigned to Yahoo! Inc. (Sunnyvale, Calif.).

"Method and apparatus for administering a bidding language for online advertising" was invented by Sebastien Lahaie (Rye, N.Y.), David M. Pennock (Monroe Township, N.J.), Sihem Amer-Yahia (New York) and David Parkes (Cambridge, Mass.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method and apparatus are provided for administering a bidding language for online advertising. In one example, the method includes providing an expressive bidding language that allows an advertiser to specify an ad campaign in a tree structure, receiving the ad campaign that is written in the expressive bidding language, translating the ad campaign into scripts, and using the scripts to access appropriate inventory from an ad inventory database."

The patent was filed on Sept. 16, 2008, under Application No. 12/211,399.
