PHOENIX , September 3, 2013 (press release) – The Sustainability Consortium (TSC) is pleased to welcome Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc. (GMCR) as a new member. GMCR will be participating in the Food, Beverage, and Agriculture working group, as well as the Electronics and Packaging working groups. GMCR supports local and global communities by investing in sustainably-grown coffee, and donating a portion of its profits to social and environmental projects.

“We’ve used Life Cycle Assessment internally for years to inform our decisions,” said Monique Oxender, Senior Director of Sustainability for GMCR. “It’s exciting to be able to share our experience and learn from others.”

“Having Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc. join TSC brings great expertise in beverage and agriculture, as well as small appliances. We are excited to begin the collaboration and enhance our tools around the social and environmental opportunities in the production of coffee,” said Sarah Lewis, Working Group Director at TSC. “We are looking forward to working with the team at Green Mountain Coffee Roasters in both the development of measurement and reporting tools, and in expanding the scope of on-going innovation projects.”

The Food, Beverage and Agriculture Sector is TSC’s largest sector and includes other iconic consumer brands such as Kellogg’s, MillerCoors and PepsiCo, Inc. All TSC members will be joining together October 9-11 in Atlanta, Georgia for The Sustainability Consortium’s Fall Member Summit.
