Austria-based Mayr-Melnhof Holz drops Kaufmann name from facilities in Austria, Germany, five years after acquiring Stallinger/Kaufmann Group, says goal is to present entire service portfolio under MM Wood brand

– Mayr-Melnhof Holz Holding AG, a major European sawmiller and engineered timber manufacturer headquartered in Austria, is rebranding as MM Wood and dropping the Kaufmann name from its facilities, according to a report by U.K. timber industry magazine TTJ.
Mayr-Melnhof acquired the Stallinger/Kaufmann Group in 2008, saying at the time that the deal would increase its turnover to more than €600 million, making the company one of Europe's largest sawmillers.
Stallinger/Kaufmann's products included sawn and planed timber, glulam, cross-laminated timber, laminated wood ceiling and concrete formwork.
In a statement, Mayr-Melnhof said its goal was to present the entire performance and service portfolio of the Mayr-Melnhof group to its customers under a strong brand - MM Wood. Its decision had been influenced by market demand for a single source, the company said, and would make its strengths more visible.
Mills at Gaishorn and Reuthe in Austria will drop Kaufmann from their names, as well as a German facility.
