Heinz to cut 10% of its workforce in UK, totaling 248 jobs, following review of entire business over past two months

, August 22, 2013 () – Food manufacturer Heinz – taken private for $ 28bn (£18bn) by billionaire Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway earlier this year – is cutting 248 jobs across its seven sites in the UK and Ireland including its headquarters in Hayes, Middlesex.

The cuts amount to 10 per cent of its 2,500 UK & Ireland staff and follows a review of the entire business over the past two months.

A company spokesman said: “We regret the impact this may have on Heinz employees and their families.”
