July 30, 2013 (press release) – Kao Corp. reported a first-half group net profit of 18.26 billion yen (US$186.2 million), down 5.1% from the year-ago period as the company booked 5.6 billion yen in costs due to the recall skin-whitening cosmetics. Group sales rose 8% to 624.95 billion yen on favorable sales of new products and increased exports to Asia.
