LOS ANGELES , June 20, 2013 () – OAO Svetlogorsk Pulp and Paper Mill plans to build a 400,000 tonnes/year bleached sulfate pulp mill in Svetlogorsk, Belarus, by 2015, although the country’s prime minister is concerned about delays, reported Belarusian Telegraph Agency on June 19.

The company has hired China Engineering Corp. (CAMCE) as the main contractor for the project, for which financing has been helped with a Chinese loan.

The new mill is expected to provide the Belarus market with sufficient high-quality pulp and provide a basis for future growth, Belarusian Telegraph Agency reported.

Belarus Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich recently visited the construction site. He asked CAMCE to speed up the work so that the project is finished on schedule. He voiced concern about too much time being spent on preparatory work.

CAMCE has promised to do its best to stay on schedule, saying it is just as interested in delivering the project on time, reported Belarusian Telegraph Agency.
