AKRON, Ohio , June 6, 2013 () – Huntsman Corp's CEO says that methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI)-based polyurethanes in the European and North American markets will be tight during the next two years forcing them to buy from their competitors to serve their own customers. Its use as replacement for other housing materials like formaldehyde has increased demand for polyurethane to about 7 to 8.5%/y. The growth is observed especially in Asia which has become the largest market for MDI consumption. Original Source: Plastics News, http://plasticsnews.com/, Copyright Crain Communications Inc 2013.
