Hillsboro, Oregon, based Parr Lumber, the 18th largest US building materials supplier, appoints James D. Boyer as president; Boyer was previously Parr's director of yard operations

LOS ANGELES , May 27, 2013 (Industry Intelligence Inc.) – The board of Parr Lumber Co. of Hillsboro, Oregon, has appointed James (Jim) D. Boyer as president of the company and all its subsidiaries, The News Guard reported on May 20.

Previously Parr's director of yard operations, Boyer assumed his new role on April 29, after a search for a president that began in late 2012.

Parr CEO David Hamill noted Boyer’s “impressive resume, evidencing the knowledge, experience and commitment necessary to lead the positive growth and further success of The Parr Company,” The News Guard reported.

Hamill will remain as CEO through 2013, helping with Boyer’s transition and developing business strategies, and will continue to serve The Parr Co. as a member of the board of directors.

Privately held The Parr Co., established in 1930, is the 18th largest building material supplier in the U.S., according to The News Guard.

The Parr Co.’s own website notes that the group operates 31 facilities in Oregon, Washington and Arizona, including pro/retail building material yards, contractor-focused facilities, and cabinet outlets, through six companies: Parr Lumber Co., Parr Cabinet Design Center, Cascade Wholesale Hardware, NSC, NSCi and Parr Marketing Group.

Parr Lumber continues to be the group’s core business, the website notes.
