PYONGYANG, North Korea , May 22, 2013 () – North Korea's official news agency reported said Monday that ducks at a Pyongyang duck farm were found to have the H5N1 strain of avian influenza in an examination conducted May 7, attributing the disease to migratory birds.

The authorities killed as many as 160,000 ducks at the Tudan Duck Farm and briefed U.N. bodies concerned on the situation, the Korean Central News Agency said.

The agency also said preventive measures are also being taken against the H7N9 variety of bird flu, which has been reported in China since earlier this year.
