Rengo Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Kita-ku, Osaka; President & CEO: Kiyoshi Otsubo) announces that its wholly owned subsidiary, Rengo Packaging, Inc., a distributor of corrugated boxes and other packaging materials in Hawaii, has commenced construction of a new corrugated plant.
The new plant will be constructed within the Malakole Industrial Park located in the western part of Honolulu; operations will begin from mid-2014. Currently, there is no corrugated plant in Hawaii, with all products being shipped by sea transportation from the west coast of the United States. After completion of the new plant, which will be equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, the lead time from order to delivery will be greatly reduced, enabling the provision of services that are better aligned to customers’ needs, as well significant quality improvements. It will also allow Rengo to respond to the expected increase in the quantity of goods distributed in the Pacific Rim area as a result of the concluding of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).
Rengo Packaging is the leading supplier of corrugated boxes and other packaging materials in Hawaii. In addition to further improving services to customers, the construction of the new plant will help to stimulate the local economy and increase employment, as well as assist the Rengo Group to enhance its business base for the Hawaiian and mainland U.S. markets.
