Harbor Paper LLC will push back the original April 15 restart date of its Hoquiam, Washington, uncoated freesheet mill, citing multiple factors within the ongoing startup preparations, but a new start date has not been announced, KXRO Newsradio reported April 11.
The mill’s production had been significantly reduced in February after local investors acquired the mill and changed its management.
However, the new owners said that the production cutback is temporary and that it aims to return the mill to full operations toward the end of improving long-term viability.
Harbor Paper also announced in March that it would partner with an Alberta mill, KXRO reported.
A Harbor Paper representative was not available for comment on April 11, KXRO reported.
The mill has an annual production capacity of 150,000 tons, with a focus on copy paper, according to the company website, and it has about 180 employees.
The primary source of this information is KXRO, Aberdeen, Washington, on April 11, 2013.
