World Intellectual Property Organization publishes Chevron Phillips Chemical patent for polymer compositions having improved barrier properties

GENEVA , March 12, 2013 (U.S. Fed News) – Publication No. WO/2013/033689 was published on March 7.

Title of the invention: "POLYMER COMPOSITIONS HAVING IMPROVED BARRIER PROPERTIES."

Applicants: CHEVRON PHILLIPS CHEMICAL COMPANY LP (US), Qing Yang (CN), Mark L Hlavinka (US), Guylaine St Jean (US) and Brooke A Gill (US).

According to the abstract* posted by the World Intellectual Property Organization: "A unimodal polymer having a melt index of from about 0.5 g/10 min to about 4 g/10 min, a density of equal to or greater than about 0.945 g/cc which when formed into a film displays a moisture vapor transmission rate of less than about 0.55 g-mil/100 in2 in 24 hours as determined in accordance with ASTM F 1249. A unimodal polymer having a melt index of from about 0.5 g/10 min to about 4 g/10 min, a density of equal to or greater than about 0.945 g/cc which when formed into a film displays a moisture vapor transmission rate of less than about 0.44 g-mil/100 in2 in 24 hours as determined in accordance with ASTM F 1249."

The patent was filed on Sept. 4, 2012 under Application No. PCT/US2012/053606.
