US trade deficit fell to US$38.5B in December from US$48.6B in November as imports fell US$6.2B to US$224.9B, exports rose US$3.9B to US$186.4B

WASHINGTON , February 8, 2013 (press release) – The U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, through the Department of Commerce, announced today that total December exports of $186.4 billion and imports of $224.9 billion resulted in a goods and services deficit of $38.5 billion, down from $48.6 billion in November, revised. December exports were $3.9 billion more than November exports of $182.5 billion. December imports were $6.2 billion less than November imports of $231.1 billion.
