LOS ANGELES , January 7, 2013 () – UK-based plastic packaging producer Intelligent Packaging Solutions has launched a new tamper-evident package designed for ice cream products, Packaging Gateway reported Jan. 7.

The company’s new TE-cap will be introduced in January as part of the new package that combines a lightweight paper pot with deep-freeze grade polypropylene lid.

The new lid provides a seal that is tamper-evident and provides easy opening and reclosing for consumers, according to the company.

The paperboard portion of the package is made from renewable resources, and features an injection molded break-off tab and skirt, which requires no foil or membrane sealing, Packaging Gateway reported.

The TE-cap cuts the need for heat sealing, enhancing line efficiencies, optimizes package safety and maintains the brand image, according to IPS sales and marketing manager Gerard Connolly.
