VANCOUVER, British Columbia , December 28, 2012 (press release) – Pop Chips, San Pellegrino Water and Clif Peanut Bars were some of the top-selling items in a recent survey of operators of Canadian Healthy Vending's Max! vending machines. The big surprise in the survey was the large number of products that appeared in the survey results. Unlike traditional vending fare—the potato chips and sugary drinks found in countless machines—healthy snack segments are not dominated by one brand or product. Healthy snack machine operators choose from hundreds of items from a wide variety of producers, big and small. To keep on top of this long list of products, Max! operators track their sales through built-in telemetry system that allows them to track each sale in near real-time. The Max! machine, in addition to the telemetry features, includes an interactive menu system that allows users to request items for their machines and a video monitor that displays nutritional information and popular products they can choose from.

Operators were asked to name their top-selling products in both the drink and snack categories. Pop Chips, the most popular snack item in the survey, are produced by popping rather than frying or baking. Clif bars are made with all organic and natural ingredients. Juices and waters dominated the drinks category with Nestle Pure Life Water finishing just below Vitamin Water. Zero Vitamin Water, the stevia-sweetened and vitamin-enriched drink, has been growing in popularity since introduced in Canada this summer.

Finishing just out of the top five were a wide variety of items including unsalted nuts, baked and whole grain chips, organic sodas and coconut water. Max! Healthy Vending machines are found throughout Canada in over 700 locations from Vancouver to St. John's Newfoundland. In addition to the popular national and international brands found in our survey, operators are encouraged to seek out local brands.
