LOS ANGELES , December 21, 2012 () – Verso Paper Corp. today announced a Jan. 1 US$30 per tonne list price increase for North America for maple-grade northern bleached hardwood kraft (NBHK) pulp, according to buyers.

The company did not state its new price.

However, today Sappi Fine Paper North America, which also produces maple-grade NBHK, announced a $30/tonne price increase for Jan. 1, to $795/tonne. And several producers of aspen- and mixed-grade NBHK, Sappi among them, have announced $30/tonne increases to $785/tonne.

Verso produces maple-grade NBHK at its mill in Quinnesec, Michigan, much of which is used internally at the facility’s coated freesheet paper operation.
