Brazilian eucalyptus kraft pulp producer Fibria to raise list prices on Jan. 1, to US$850/tonne in North America and US$800/tonne in Europe, both up US$20/tonne, and to US$700/tonne in Chins, up US$30/tonne

LOS ANGELES , December 6, 2012 (Industry Intelligence Inc.) – Fibria Celulose SA of Brazil has announced Jan. 1 price increases for bleached eucalyptus kraft pulp (BEKP), a knowledgeable source confirmed.

Its new prices are as follows:
•$850/tonne in North America, up $20/tonne
•$800/tonne in Europe, up $20/tonne
•$700/tonne in China, up $30/tonne

This is the same plan announced first by Brazil’s Suzano Papel e Celulose SA several days ago. Suzano and Fibria are the only companies known to have announced so far.

Sources noted that Suzano’s announcement was made early in the month, giving time for other companies to evaluate their plans.

Fibria is the world’s largest producer of BEKP, with a capacity of 5.35 million tonnes.
