WESTCHESTER, Illinois , November 6, 2012 (press release) – The Ingredion group of companies, a leading global provider of ingredient solutions to diversified industries, today launched a revolutionary addition to its NOVATION® line of clean label starches – the NOVATION Endura™ series – in North America, Europe, and Asia. With the highest process tolerance ever available in a functional native starch, this new series enables food manufacturers to create a wider range of appealing, natural and additive-free products, including dressings, yogurts, UHT-processed soups and frozen meals.

This new product line extends Ingredion’s leadership in clean label innovation. Debuting today with NOVATION Endura 0100 starch, the series maintains desired product texture under high heat and shear and delivers excellent stability during shelf-life, including chilled and frozen storage. The clean flavor profile requires no masking, even in delicately flavored products.

“With more consumers around the world clamoring for ‘natural’ front-of-package claims and simple back-of-package ingredient lists, we wanted to help manufacturers seize the opportunity for clean label positioning,” said Aaron Edwards, Director, Global Wholesome Ingredients, Ingredion. “The solution is the next-generation process tolerance delivered by NOVATION Endura functional native starches.”

“With NOVATION Endura 0100 starch, manufacturers now can get both a clean label and great textures in their most challenging applications, such as a glossy rich creaminess in spoonable dressings, yogurts and dairy desserts, and a hearty thickness in soups and sauces.”

Nearly 73 percent of consumers worldwide say a short, simple ingredient list is important or very important when considering their food and beverage purchases, according to 2012 proprietary Ingredion research of 300 consumers in each of 11 countries. NOVATION Endura 0100 starch may appear on ingredient lists simply as “starch” or “corn starch.”

Research also shows that 60 percent of consumers worldwide would switch brands for a “natural” label. Using NOVATION Endura starch allows for label claims such as “natural,” “additive free” and “no artificial ingredients.”

As the world’s leading supplier of functional native starches to the food and beverage industry, Ingredion has been active in clean label innovation for 20 years. NOVATION Endura is the latest addition to a portfolio of more than 35 clean label starches, from instant and cook-up to organic varieties.
