Wepa Industrieholding SE will eliminate 150 positions at five of its facilities in Germany in an effort to bring its operations into sync with market conditions, effectively reducing production capacity, reported EUWID-Paper on Oct. 8.
The Germany-based tissue and tissue products manufacturer employs 1,500 people at those locations, and plans to make the employment changes without going through the usual redundancy process, Wepa stated.
The workforce reduction is part of a company-wide restructuring that Wepa expects to complete by the end of 2013. The company cited higher costs for raw materials, energy and logistics as underlying its planned overhaul.
As part of its reorganization plan, Wepa also has put up for sale its Italian unit Wepa Lucca and will relocate some converting lines from Italy to other sites in Europe, EUWID-Paper reported.
