MWV's Charleston, South Carolina, specialty chemicals facility hit by fire after storage tank of crude tall oil ruptures, company says; one person taken to hospital as precautionary measure, but fire has been contained, poses no risk to outside community

RICHMOND, Virginia , September 24, 2012 (press release) – At approximately 10 am today, there was a fire at the MWV Specialty Chemicals, Charleston, S.C., facility. A rupture occurred at the top of a storage tank containing crude tall oil (a by-product of pine trees), and no product was released. The cause is currently under investigation. One person was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

There is no risk to the outside community, and the fire has been contained.
