LEBANON, Tennessee , August 14, 2012 (press release) – For the second year in a row, Cracker Barrel Old Country Store has taken top honors in the family dining segment of the Consumer Picks survey conducted for Nation’s Restaurant News magazine. The study measured guest attitudes toward 171 restaurant brands constituting three restaurant segments: limited service, casual and family. Cracker Barrel led in eight of the survey’s ten categories, including Cleanliness, Service, Menu Variety, Atmosphere, Reputation, Craveability, Likely to Recommend, and Likely to Return, with a 14 point margin in Atmosphere and a more than 12 point margin in Reputation.

The article about the survey appears in the August 6, 2012 issue of Nation’s Restaurant News and notes that Cracker Barrel’s clear leadership in the family dining category is the result of success with strategic initiatives, particularly in Marketing, Menu, and Operations. It highlights the company’s new advertising campaign, Handcrafted by Cracker Barrel; refined menu and pricing strategies to focus on value, affordability and variety, including the daily lunch specials; and updated equipment and technology in the stores that have had a positive effect on Operations. In addition, Cracker Barrel received the highest scores among family dining concepts from five of six demographic groups, including men, women, boomers, Gen X and millennials; and the highest scores from four of five household income groups.

“I’m very pleased at such positive results because this survey is about what our guests think about the Cracker Barrel brand, and the service, hospitality, and great food they receive when they visit with us,” said Cracker Barrel President and Chief Executive Officer Sandra B. Cochran. “This is the second year Nation’s Restaurant News has conducted the Consumer Picks survey and the second year Cracker Barrel has been ranked in first place in the family dining category. That reinforces our ‘Pleasing People’ mission statement, and also our ability to consistently deliver a wonderful dining and shopping experience every time a guest walks through our doors. With 616 locations in 42 states, we are very proud that our guests have honored us with their votes.”
