Nez Perce-Clearwater Forests supervisor 'devastated' by death of U.S. Forest Service firefighter in Steep Corner Fire, near Orofino, Idaho

Nez Perce-Clearwater Forests staff was notified of a Forest Service firefighter fatality this afternoon that occurred on the Steep Corner Fire above Orofino near the Aquarius Campground, North Fork Ranger District.
Release of identification of the victim is pending notification of the family.
Forest Supervisor Rick Brazell shared, “The Forest Service is devistated by the loss of one of our own. We ask the public to join us in keeping the family in their thoughts and prayers.”
Clearwater Potlatch Timber Protective Association (CPTPA) stationed out of Orofino, Idaho was managing suppression response. CPTPA is a local cooperative initial attack association responsible for fire suppression in this area. The Forest Service was cooperatively assisting in suppression of the fire.
The victim’s body was transferred to Pine Hills Mortuary in Orofino accompanied by Jill Forth, Patrol Captain, Nez Perce-Clearwater NFs.
