According to Mintel’s report on U.S. teas and ready-to-drink (RTD) teas, sales of these beverages increased 5.1% in 2011, totaling US$4.3 billion in food, drug, convenience stores and mass merchandisers, Beverage Industry reported July 18.
According to the report, canned tea, bottled tea and refrigerated RTD tea all drove growth in the category. The canned and bottled RTD tea segment accounted for more than 50% of the market share.
Refrigerated RTD tea made up the second-largest segment, totaling 13% of category sales in 2011.
