Sweden's Rosti acquires U.K.'s McKechnie Engineered Plastics; McKechnie runs 110 injection molding machines from three plants, with revenue of £75M; companies' markets, which include packaging, now being served by subsidiary Rosti McKechnie

MALMO, Sweden , June 26, 2012 (press release) – The Rosti Group has today completed the purchase of McKechnie Engineered Plastics Limited. Seller is Melrose Plc. McKechnie is one of the leading UK injection moulders, operating 110 machines from 3 facilities, with a combined manufacturing space of 30,000 sqm. McKechnie’s revenue is £75 million and employs over 650 people.

McKechnie, formed in the 1930’s, has a long and successful history and is recognised as one of the premier names within the injection moulding industry. Similar to the Rosti ‘Concept to reality’ philosophy, McKechnie has an integrated service offering, from design through to distribution with a vast array of injection moulding technologies, cosmetic painting, automated assembly, metal pressings and other related value add operations.

The new Rosti subsidiary, Rosti McKechnie Ltd, is supplying into most of Rosti’s current markets, with a leading reputation in the Power Tool, the Food and Drink Packaging and Automotive sectors. "The strategic fit between Rosti and McKechnie in terms of technical competences, culture and customers is impressive. The two companies share a common approach through developing value add solutions and providing high levels of customer service" explains Rosti Group CEO Mr Borje Vernet.

The state of the art injection moulding facilities at Stamford Bridge and Pickering in North Yorkshire, where McKechnie has a particular expertise in multi shot moulding, processing of PMMA (a type of acrylic glass) materials and drinks can widget manufacture, along with Canning Brett, specialising in metal fabrications and fixings in South Wales, will be incorporated into the European division of the Rosti Group, headed by COO Mr Barry Coughlan.
