Tesco last night scooped the ‘Green Retailer of the Year’ Award at the retail industry’s annual Grocer Gold Awards.
The judges praised Tesco for its continued commitment to carbon reduction across all its markets, highlighting the launch of Asia’s first zero carbon store and the rail hub at Daventry, UK, which has helped to take 72,000 lorry journeys off the road every year.
Tesco aims to become a zero-carbon business by 2050 and is making good progress towards its long term targets.
Lucy Neville-Rolfe, Executive Director (Corporate & Legal Affairs) at Tesco comments, “We’re very proud to have been recognised for the hard work we do to reduce our impact on the environment and the work we are doing to move towards becoming a zero-carbon business. This award is the result of a real team effort and I’d like to thank everyone for their hard work and dedication.”
