Brazilian government raises taxes on beers by 26%; brewers will need to raise prices by 2.9% in order to offset measure, analyst says

LOS ANGELES , June 1, 2012 () – The Brazilian government raised taxes on beers by 26%, Bloomberg reported June 1.

Gabriel Vaz de Lima, an analyst at Barclays Capital in Sao Paolo, said in order to offset the measure, brewers will need to raise prices by 2.9%.
