Germany-based industrial packager Schutz officially opened its second production site in Tianjin, China; facility produces intermediate bulk containers, F1 plastic tight-head drums; company plans continued expansion in China

SELTERS, Germany , May 22, 2012 (press release) – Schütz GmbH & Co. KGaA from Selters, Germany, laid the foundations for further future expansion of its activities in China with the official opening of its second production site there after Shanghai. The new plant, equipped with full, state-of-the-art technical infrastructure, was built on a 50,000 square metres site in the city of Tianjin, not far from the capital, Beijing. An initial workforce of 50 will be employed here to produce both IBCs (intermediate bulk containers) and F1 plastic tight-head drums.

The plant went into partial production last year. Since then, all units have been completed and the plant was officially inaugurated at a grand opening ceremony on 18 May. Several guests from the worlds of politics, commerce and industry, among them many customers, attended the event at Schütz’ invitation. During a tour of the plant, the guests had an opportunity to form an impression of the new production units, which comply with the very latest technical and logistic standards. Particular attention was paid to the purpose-designed production environment in which manufacturing processes take place under intensified hygiene conditions, thus satisfying all requirements for the production of food IBCs. The modern production systems operate with maximum energy efficiency – an expression of Schütz’ avowed commitment to sustainability and environmental protection.

At the new plant, which is ideally geographically and logistically situated on the north-east coast of China, Schütz combines flexibility with customer proximity. What’s more, shorter transport distances and the freight optimisation they entail guarantee a more favourable carbon footprint and maximum possible supply security. One of the main messages Schütz had for its guests at the opening ceremony was that, as the leading supplier of industrial packaging, the company aims to expand its activities in China successively and to continue as the pre- ferred packaging supplier to Chinese industry thanks to the ecofriendly and innovative transport packaging it develops according to the very latest standards.
