Books-A-Million Inc. said Wednesday that its chief financial officer resigned to pursue other opportunities, and it went outside the chain to find a replacement.
The company said Brian W. White resigned and was replaced by R. Todd Noden, who held the same job at Dobbs Mills LLC since last September.
Noden was previously vice president for accounting and financial analysis at service station operator Racetrac Petroleum Inc. from 2006 to 2011.
According to the company's regulatory filings, White had been CFO since August 2009 and was interim CFO for eight months before that.
Books-A-Million has 255 stores in 31 states and the District of Columbia under its own brand and others including Books and Co., 2nd & Charles, and Bookland.
Its shares fell 2 cents to close at $2.43.
