ATLANTA , April 16, 2012 (press release) – Arauco Panels USA, LLC’s Moncure facility has been issued an FSC Chain of Custody Certificate by the Rainforest Alliance, providing independent third-party verification that that the facility is able to track FSC-certified material through its production process. An intact Chain of Custody is essential to ensuring that the fiber in a finished product can be tracked to an FSC-certified forest of origin.

The facility has also been issued an FSC Controlled Wood Certificate providing independent, third-party verification that it is in compliance with the FSC Controlled Wood Standard, and is eligible to sell its non-FSC-certified wood products to other FSC CoC-certified manufacturers as “controlled wood.”

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests. FSC certification provides a credible link between responsible production and consumption of forest products.

“FSC Chain of Custody certification sends a strong message about Arauco’s commitment to environmental, social and economic initiatives, and to help support our customers in this as well”, says Tom Ruedy, Business Development Manager for Arauco Panels USA, LLC.

Arauco Wood Products, Inc, the parent company of Arauco Panels USA LLC, also received its FSC Chain of Custody and Controlled Wood certification from Bureau Veratis. Independent organizations such as Rainforest Alliance and Bureau Veratis represent the leading global forestry certification bodies and provide third-party validation of the documented processes and CoC monitoring systems.
