Head of Azerbaijan state oil company's chemical section Azerikimya reveals plans for production of polyethylene, high-pressure polypropylene

The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) plans to produce high-pressure polypropylene and polyethylene by 2014, according to a report by news service ABC.AZ.
The head of Azerikimya Industrial Assn., SOCAR's chemical section, confirmed the plans at a recent SOCAR forum in Baku. Azerikimya Mukhtar Babayev told the forum that installations for the production of polyethylene and high-pressure polypropylene would be operational by 2014.
Babayev said that by 2020, Azerikimya's annual production would total 165,000 tons of ethylene, 200,000 tons of propylene, 160,000 tons of polyethylene and 160,000 tons of high pressure polyethylene.
Azerikimya was incorporated into SOCAR from April 2 by a presidential decree.
