Verso Paper announces May 1 US$30-US$60/ton price increases for U.S. for coated freesheet, coated groundwood, and supercalendered paper grades

Verso Paper Corp. today announced a May 1 US$30-US$60 per ton (US$1.50-US$3.00 per cwt) list price increase for the U.S. for its coated freesheet (CFS), coated groundwood (CGW), and supercalendered (SC) grades.
This is the first known recent price increase announcement by a North American producer for these grades.
In its announcement to customers, Verso said the increases apply to all of these grades, including but not limited to the following brands:
•Influence, Influence Soft-Gloss, and Velocity ($30/ton)
•Liberty, Advocate, Advocate EHB, Advocate Roto, Advocate Roto Hi-Bulk, Clarity Plus ($60/ton)
The company said the increases apply to all basis weights, bulks, and finishes.
Verso Paper produces paper at its mills in Quinnesec, Michigan; Jay, Maine (Androscoggin Mill); Bucksport, Maine; and Sartell, Minnesota.
