The president and COO of Darden Restaurants Inc., Andrew Madsen, said the need for affordability continues for his company, especially for households that are more economically challenged, Nation’s Restaurant News reported March 23.
The company recently reported net earnings of US$164.1 million for the three months ended Feb. 26, up 8.5% from the year-ago period.
Darden Restaurants operates 1,959 restaurants, including 702 Red Lobster units, 776 Olive Garden locations and 374 LongHorn Steakhouse restaurants. Madsen said that Olive Garden would continue to run marketing campaigns that highlight specific new dishes and specific price points, promoting the chain’s affordability.
