JBS S.A. reported fourth-quarter net earnings of 25.6 million reais (US$14 million), compared with a net loss of 67.5 million reais in the year-ago period, Reuters reported March 21.
However, the results were lower than the forecast of 167 million reais in net earnings by a Reuters survey of four analysts, as a weak North American poultry market offset surging U.S. beef and pork prices.
Revenue rose 18% to 16.9 billion reais as U.S. beef and pork prices rose more than 20% in 2011.
