Nearly 60% of U.K. consumers say they are willing to spend more than £7 on a bottle of wine, but only 11% actually do so, research shows

LOS ANGELES , March 15, 2012 () – According to research, nearly 60% of U.K. consumers say they are willing to spend more than £7 on a bottle of wine, Harpers Wine & Spirits Magazine reported March 15.

According to the research, while 58% of shoppers are willing to trade up on wine, only 11% actually do so.

The data comes as winemakers in the region look to increase prices. For example, Pernod Ricard Deputy Managing Director Simon Thomas said that retailers could expect £2.74 more a bottle from premium wine on average.
