MEMPHIS, Tennessee , February 29, 2012 (press release) – The National Hardwood Lumber Association in collaboration with Purdue University and the Indiana Hardwood Lumbermen’s Association will offer the NHLA Inspector Training School summer program at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

The 10-week condensed version of the 14-week course held twice per year in Memphis will be on the road this summer for the fifth consecutive year. Students gain a thorough knowledge of the NHLA Rules for the Measurement and Inspection of Hardwood Lumber, while acquiring the confidence and information needed to be successful when determining the value of lumber in a production setting.

“Hardwood Lumber Inspectors are valuable assets to their employer as they determine the value of each piece of lumber. They are the company’s accountant,” states Chris Churchill, Director of Education. “Due to the reputation of the NHLA Inspection School, graduates are often in demand as many companies require their inspectors to be NHLA graduates.”

The NHLA Inspector Training School has a proud and rich sixty-four year history; graduating more than 7,100 students since its conception. This unique program has earned worldwide respect, consequently attracting students from throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Africa, South America and Asia. Leading the summer course is veteran NHLA Instructor, Rich Hascher. In his 20 years of teaching at the Inspector Training School, Mr. Hascher has personally graduated more than 1,900 lumber inspectors.

Applications are now being accepted for the summer program which begins June 11 and ends August 17. Space is limited, so please apply early. Cost for the program is $2,850 for NHLA members and $3,250 for non-members. IHLA members will receive an additional $100 off and students at Purdue University will receive the NHLA member rate.
