BASF to unveil paint, coatings solutions at Paint India 2012 in Mumbai, Feb. 23-25; products to be highlighted include Basionics additives for coatings, Firemist pigments

High premium decorative paints with new effect pigments and resins solutions

BASF's Acronal® and Acronal® ECO are the ideal product lines for decorative paints industry. With its features like low odor or low VOC with built-in stain resistance, it gives exceptional durability to interior paints. With the Acronal® ECO experience, consumers can stay in their houses, when it is being painted. The innovative pigments product - Firemist® is a new effect pigment that can create a variety of unique, high-value finishes; which is especially suitable for interior design. BASF also offers a wide range of products for both interior and exterior wood coatings formulations. The diversity of Joncryl® and Luhydran® product lines allows customers to choose from a wide range of water-based technology platforms.

New Basionics ionic liquids with unique properties and a wide range of polyalcohols

BASF's Basionics® are highly efficient additives for coatings. It's antistatic and conductive properties prevent dust attraction and sparking and dissipate dangerous electric charges and present static charging, ensuring reliability and functionality for many kinds of coatings. BASF also offers NEOL® Neopentylglycol, a unique polyalcohol giving superior performance advantages due to its high chemical and thermal stability. It is a key building block for different types of polyester resin and can be used in powder coating, coil coating and automotive coating. Other polyalcohols and specialties include hydroxypivalic acid neopentyl glycol ester (HPN), 1,6 hexanediol (HDO) and wide ranges of vinyl ethers used in specialty coating and ink manufacturing.

Specialty monomers improve products' properties in various applications

Acrylate and methacrylate monomers are the essential building blocks for paints and coatings. However, when we refer to these products' performance for the different applications, it is always about making the right choice on monomers. With BASF's specialty monomers, product properties like scratch resistance, weatherability and appearance are being enhanced. These properties are crucial for the superior performance in automotive, architectural and industrial coatings, as well as adhesives. At the show, BASF offers a broad portfolio of standard and specialty monomers, as well as oxo alcohols and oxygenated solvents, providing different chemical solutions to customers according to their needs. To highlight a few, our Cyclohexyl Methacrylate (CHMA) provides high chemical resistance, outdoor weatherability to clearcoats and architectural dispersions. For our 4-Hydroxybutyl Acrylate (4HBA), it acts as the crosslinker, which improves the scratch resistance and has higher reactivity in clearcoats. Other products like Hydroxyethyl Acrylate (HEA) and Hydroxypropyl Acrylate (HPA) are high in purity and could be used in automotive, industrial, electronic and optical coatings.
